Stephen K. Hayes was a non-Japanese student of Masaki Hatsumi of the Bujinkan, as well as Shoto Tanemura of the Genbukan and Unsui Manaka of the Jinenkan. He was instrumental in spreading the Takumatsuden School to the West under the pretext of ninjutsu. While he has many detractors inside the organizations mentioned above, his value to their institutions cannot be overstated.
